The first and foremost criterion of receiving Shyamsundar Krishna’s mercy is that one must become “anyabhilasita sunyam”- completely devoid of all desires other than pure devotional service. This is why Satyavrata Muni prays to Lord Damodar as follows in Damodashtakam,
varam deva mokṣam na mokṣāvadhim vā
na canyam vṛṇe ‘ham vareṣād apīha
idam te vapur nātha gopāla-bālam
sadā me manasy āvirāstām kim anyaiḥ
Satyavrata Muni is well aware that nothing other than selfless devotional service can attract the Supreme Personality of Godhead Sri Krishna. He will not be conquered by the devotee until and unless this mood is inculcated within the heart.
Our painful struggles to fulfilling this requirement of Krishnachandra are endless and need not be described in detail. Nitaichand is well aware of this fact, thus when we write His holy name…in the very first stroke itself…He is doing it for us. The first loop in the न syllable symbolizes Nitai carrying out the task of freeing us from all desires which are not conducive to the path of devotional service. Just see how desperate Nitai is to recommend us to Krishna! Before we have even finished writing the first stroke of the first syllable, He is already working on giving us the most essential quality which will attract Krishna to us like a magnet! Aar kabe Nitaichander karuna haibe, samsara vasana mor kabe tuccha habe. This samsara vasana is removed by Nitaichand in the very first syllable of His holy name. What must be the glory of Nitai Nam! Ha Nitai!
The words nija nikata nivasam in Raghunath das Goswami’s prayer to Sri Govardhan is His expert indication to Giriraj Maharaj that His most cherished desire is to reside in Radhakund. Our Prayojan Acharya’s hankering and deep aspiration for Radhakund comes out in this prayer to Sri Govardhan. Whoever aspires for permanent vaas In Radhakund should also faithfully sing this prayer following in the footsteps of Radhakund Senapati Dasa Goswami.
