Love vs Renunciation and Lord Nitai’s perfect example

(Amy Harilal) #1

@AmyHarilal :
Joy Nitai! Pranams to Nitai-Gaura, Shrila Nitaipreshthji and all Nitai bhaktas…I was wondering; Lord Nitai was a renunciate and yet He is always known as the most loving personality. How can we follow Him and blend two seemingly opposite qualities, love and renunciation, together in our lives?

Answer by Shrila @Nitaipreshthji
He became the most loving grihastha in the whole creation with two wives, so we know how much He loves every soul.

@AmyHarilal
that’s not like Lord Rama who was always seen as ideal and who had only one wife.

@Nitaipreshthji
He is the origin of Ram so He has two pleasure potencies or eternal consorts, whereas Ram has only one. The origin always has more. Besides Nitai is the eternal husband of every soul so He cannot follow the one-wife rule of Ram.

@AmyHarilal
oh ok. So, are love and renunciation opposing qualities? as renunciates often have the reputation of being cold people.

@Nitaipreshthji
A true renunciate, in fact, loves every soul. Therefore he or she does not want to localize to only one person. So the love of a renunciate is truly more expansive and selfless, as he or she does not love only those who give pleasure or do something for him or her, but everyone in relation with Nitai.

@AmyHarilal
thanks for the wonderful answer. Just one more question; you mentioned selflessness… do you feel its true that sometimes we have to be selfish and sometimes we have to be selfless and give more and be wise enough to know when which is appropriate?

@Nitaipreshthji
Both utter selfishness and extreme selflessness in regards to anything material is fleeting, insignificant, and completely inconsequential with respect to the eternity of our soul and our relationship with Nitai.

Our only true selfishness is how to attain Nitai in this life at all costs. The only genuine selflessness is how to bring others to Nitai too in this very life.

@AmyHarilal
I can understand that. thank you so much for your wise and realized answers. One can never progress in spiritual life without the great words of realized spiritual personalities and the sangas that they create.

@Nitaipreshthji
Our only true selfishness is how to attain Nitai in this life at all costs. The only genuine selflessness is how to bring others to Nitai too in this very life.

Apurva Thaker:
Dandavat pranams Dear Gurudeva and exalted Nitai vadis. Yes a true renunciate really loves and is the only true well wisher of the true self(the soul which is part and parcel of Nitai)

The whole philosophy in brief:A Nitai bhakti sutra

Our only true selfishness is how to attain Nitai in this life at all costs. The only genuine selflessness is how to bring others to Nitai too in this very life.

A Nitaivadi exhibits Supreme selflessness by initiating other souls in Nitai bhakti
At the same time due to these endeavors,he is gaining ultimate favour of Nitai…so he is simultaneously supremely selfless and selfish…which is possible only for a Nitaivadi
